With a compelling narrative style and a fusion of diverse musical genres, artist-songwriter CHAITHU is carving out a truly unique space in the indie-jazz world. A lifelong learner, CHAITHU grew up fascinated with the myriad ways that sound shapes our lives. Vibrations are all around us — a simple fact that drove them to pursue jazz, classical, Carnatic and contemporary studies as a saxophonist, vocalist, and composer. Growing up as a queer first-generation Indian American, CHAITHU was used to adopting identities that fit within the confines of other people’s expectations. It wasn’t until they felt the weight of a saxophone in their hands that CHAITHU discovered their own identity. Bleeding familiarity into the unknown, CHAITHU’s music is inspired by sounds of Jazz, Soul, and RnB, with a callback to their upbringing in the Indian Classical tradition. With a lush multi-instrumentalist approach, CHAITHU crafts vibrant melodies with rich undertones and tells stories of their childhood, urging listeners to breathe, heal, feel, and ultimately grow. As an artist, CHAITHU draws inspiration from nature, authentic & healthy expressions of emotion, and healing from generational traumas. CHAITHU hopes to continue to create meaningful art that resonates with the world, grow through their music, and inspire others to show up as their best, authentic selves.
